/with a mischievous invitation in the amber dusk light of fall\
dear reader,
The way we treat other people is a reflection of how we are treating ourselves.
around the time we first got Posie as a puppy,
I ran into something that said
‘it’s never the dog’s fault’
it always comes from self
it’s never the other person
love is giving up your seat
love is moving out of spaces so others can fill them
consider the constant
(why me? why does this always happen to me?)
is the way of thinking-
the normal route to work
not the work
and not the self
not you
don't confuse the route and the thought cars driving on it
the constant might be the roads your thoughts take
(well. it must* be me)
shed it
get it outta here
cause it aint you
it’s how we’ve trained our minds to work
there’s just truth and physics.
from a new place in space,
with a rumble,
*“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
